April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

In the United States, more than 1 in 3 women and nearly 1 in 4 men have experienced sexual violence. KBEP will recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month through a host of digital events, thought-provoking articles, conversations, and artwork related to sexual violence awareness and consent.

As we discuss these difficult topics, we encourage you to send us a message through Facebook or anonymously email us any questions that may arise. All questions will be answered weekly via video. At the end of the month, we will compile all of your questions into one resource to be displayed on our website.

Additionally, our #KBEPCares series will continue through April. We believe that this self-care is especially important as we navigate the intricacies of sexual violence awareness and prevention.

Here is a list of additional events KBEP will host or participate in during April to support Sexual Assault Awareness Month:

April 1-30: We will participate in the National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s Instagram Challenge. During this challenge, the NSVRC will provide “open-ended prompts that participants respond to with original content.” Everyone who participates every day in April will be entered into a drawing at the end of the month for the grand prize: a $200 Amazon gift card.

April 7: Wear Teal Day: The staff at KBEP will wear teal to support victims of sexual violence and spread awareness.

April 10 at 1:00 p.m.: “Let’s Talk About Consent, Baby” Join us for an hour-long conversation on consent and boundaries. More information to follow!

April 17 at 1:00 p.m.: “Sexual Assault: Awareness and Prevention” Join us for an hour-long discussion on sexual assault awareness and prevention. More information to follow!

April 29: Wear Demin Day: To honor wear Demin Day, KBEP will create an online album dedicated to sharing artwork about sexual violence awareness and clothing activism.
