Family Secrets: When Violence Hits Home

Domestic violence is a growing crisis spreading in households across the country. We know the many effects that domestic violence can have on survivors– from physical injury to lowered self-esteem to destroyed finances. However, domestic violence does not just affect the direct victim. Every year in the United States, 5 million children witness domestic violence. What happens to them?

Witnessing domestic violence can have many adverse consequences that can follow children into their adulthood. The Childhood Domestic Violence Association is dedicated to raising awareness about the impacts of domestic violence on witnessing children and providing resources to better support them.

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday, October 24 at 6:00 pm at the NeighborWorks C3 Center in Woonsocket, RI for the “Family Secrets” community forum. We will screen a short film about childhood domestic violence, have a discussion, and share some best practices for addressing this important issue. This forum is being held in partnership with the Childhood Domestic Violence Association.

There will be free food graciously provided by Domino’s Pizza of Woonsocket and Cinema World of Lincoln. There will also be free raffle prizes donated from:

Christmas Tree Shop
