Positive Self Talk Workshop

Positive self-talk refers to the practice of consciously using optimistic and constructive language when speaking to oneself, either in one's mind or out loud. It involves replacing negative or self-defeating thoughts and inner dialogue with more encouraging, affirming, and empowering statements. Positive self-talk can have a significant impact on one's mental and emotional well-being, as well as their overall outlook on life.

In this Positive Self-Talk Workshop, we will:

  • Practice ways to be more confident in our thoughts and actions
  • Discuss why "Comparison is the thief of joy”
  • Take time to write our accomplishments and future goals
  • Share ways to build our self-esteem

Conflict Resolution Workshop

It involves replacing negative or self-defeating thoughts and inner dialogue with more encouraging, affirming, and empowering statements. Positive self-talk can have a significant impact on one's mental and emotional well-being, as well as their overall outlook on life. In all relationships, there will be conflicts. However, conflicts are not issues if handled correctly. It is essential to know how to approach a conflict and find ways to solve it healthily.

In this Conflict Resolution workshop, we will:

  • Learn what it means to be Aggressive, Passive, and Assertive
  • Learn ways a conflict can be positive or negative
  • Discuss healthy ways to resolve disputes
  • Find ways to compromise if needed

Healthy Communication Workshop

Although healthy communication is an integral part of the foundation for healthy and nonviolent relationships, many barriers to healthy communication prevent those in relationships from active listening and assertive boundary setting. In this workshop, students will be asked to address these barriers and will learn ways to communicate that emphasize healthy skills.

In this Healthy Communication Workshop, we will:

  • Engage in activities designed to highlight common obstacles to effective and clear communication
  • Learn to eliminate biases and barriers to active listening
  • Discuss the differences between passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive communication
  • Discuss the balance between trusting intent and acknowledging the impact

Self-Advocacy Workshop

Self-advocacy is an invaluable skill in navigating all types of relationships. This workshop is designed to teach students vital self-advocacy skills so that they can identify, communicate, and advocate for their own needs and boundaries.

In this Self-Advocacy workshop, we will:

  • Define the importance of self-advocacy in any relationship or power structure
  • Discuss respectfully and assertively communicating needs and boundaries
  • Outline different methods of communicating needs and boundaries
  • Discuss best practices for self-advocacy in various environments and relationship dynamics
  • Role play self-advocating in a wide range of scenarios in order to increase comfort level with assertive communication and expressing needs

Our summer programs are designed for everyone and can be tailored to suit various ages, needs, and environments. Typically lasting one to two hours, these sessions can be conducted in person or virtually.
